SEVLETUNET GUESTFARM B&B

A HISTORIC AND CULTURAL FARM STAY IN THE MIDDLE OF OSLO AND BERGEN

Welcome to a family-run guest farm in the lush valley of Numedal

Amidst one of Norway’s five beautiful valleys, we are surrounded by magnificent mountains and forests, open landscapes, and deep mountain lakes. You will find us where the fjord “Norefjorden” and the river “Numedalslågen”, meets.

We offer rooms with ready-made beds, towels and breakfast in an intimate and historic environment. We serve rustic food, a tiny selection of wine, a popular selection of local beers and home-baked goods. In total we have eight double rooms on the farm.

We treat you to a dinner with storytelling about our ancestor’s life on a family farm in the valley, whilst you socialize with other guests. Afterwards, you will sleep in organic bed linen that have air dried on the drying rack outside, by the gentle valley wind.

In the morning we serve freshly brewed coffee, our breakfast buffet, that includes organic sourdough bread and organic homemade jams.

We have two cabins for six persons, one room with capacity for one extra bed. We also have two family units for 3-4 persons.

We are a mother and a daughter, the 5th and 6th generation, that runs this farm, that will welcome you when you arrive.

THE SEVLE-LOFT

Norway’s most beautiful barn on pillars?

“As a type, the long loft points back to the halls of the Viking kings. In the valley of Numedal, in the area of the small town Nore, there are three barns on pillars that all are preserved; at South and North Kravik - and at Sevletunet.

The Kravik lofts are undoubtedly from the Middle Ages, but through later additions much of the particular character has been lost. The Sevle loft stems from a later date, J. Meyer gives the year 1632, but the original solution is intact.

Like most other lofts, it was later (1798) put on stumps (pillars).”

During your stay we will gladly tell you more about this distinctive building type and the rest of the farm history. You are also welcome to join us inside the loft.
